Elderly Companionship and Visitation

  • Loneliness and isolation are serious causes of suffering for seniors. HOPE volunteers spend time visiting people who are elderly and beautiful friendships develop. They may also assist with transportation, light housekeeping, errands, and telephone reassurance.

Emergency Assistance

  • Many of us live comfortable lives where healthy meals are the norm. It is hard to believe that so many people in our community cannot afford a simple meal. Our Food Pantry provides healthy, non-perishable food, and food vouchers so people can take a break from hunger.

Partial Financial Assistance

  • Many people who seek help work long hours for low wages. Others face financial difficulties due to job loss, disability, or health crises. Often they do not qualify for public assistance even though they are unable to make ends meet. HOPE offers a hand up by paying for utilities, rent, and other basic necessities so families can emerge from crises.

Information and Employment Referrals

  • We take a comprehensive approach in assessing needs. Thanks to strong partnerships with Government, community, and non-profit organizations, we routinely provide clients with referrals when they need services that HOPE cannot provide.

Workforce One Employment Site

  • Using the Work Force One kiosk at HOPE, clients can search for jobs and apply for unemployment compensation and food stamps, without travelling to multiple locations.

Counseling Services

  • Some of the people we assist need mental health counseling. Catholic Charities provides a licensed therapist who counsels clients at HOPE. This service plays a key role in strengthening individuals and families.

Education and Support Groups

  • HOPE volunteers offer a variety of workshops and support groups to help people develop financial literacy, improve parenting skills, and cope with the challenges they face.

Tutoring

  • Many children come from homes where tutoring and homework assistance is unavailable. HOPE volunteers provide these services with love so children can excel academically.

Adopt-A-Family Holiday Drives (Christmas, Thanksgiving)

  • Holidays can be difficult for low-income families. In the Spring HOPE gives children Easter baskets while seniors receive hot meals. During the Summer needy children obtain back-to-school supplies from the Backpack Drive. Thanksgiving Holiday Baskets with food and food vouchers are an annual tradition. At Christmas time, we invite donors to “Adopt-A-Family” so children and families can receive clothing, toys, food baskets, and gift cards.

Summer Camp Scholarships

  • At-risk youth thrive in Summer Camps! HOPE sponsors camp fees for several students whose parents cannot afford the tuition.
